Burj al Arab is set to expand with the addition of a 10,000 square metre island, called the North Deck.
The North Deck is currently making its way by sea the 8000 nautical miles from its construction site in chilly Finland to sun-soaked Dubai. The private luxury deck will fan 100 metres out into the Arabian Gulf and accommodate 32 cabanas, 400 sun loungers, one fresh water pool measuring 612 square metres and one salt water pool measuring over 800 square metres , one restaurant and a bar.
Made from steel and weighing around 5,000 tonnes, the North Deck left Finland on 9th January is due to arrive at the Burj al Arab in mid February.

The North Deck, which was developed using state of the art marine technology, is due to open to the public during the second quarter of 2016.
