If you find Dubai airport far too busy these day then consider this: the airport has just retained its title as the world’s busiest international airport, leaving London’s Heathrow trailing in its wake.
In 2015, DXB served 78.2million passengers; that’s an average of 7.2 million per month, the size of a reasonably big city – certainly much bigger than Dubai itself! Heathrow, meanwhile, handled just under 75 million passengers.
In the coming months the airport will open Concourse D; said Paul Griffiths, the airport’s CEO, “The facility will play a crucial role in helping us welcome millions of passengers.”
The strongest markets were India, the UK and Saudia Arabia with Doha being the most popular city destination.
